The refrigerator parts outside the ice maker: what each one does, how its failure shows, what replacing it typically costs, and which ones Sub-Zero may still be paying for.
One moves cold air through the cabinet, the other cools the condenser. A failing motor ticks, squeals or goes quiet while a section warms.
Typical range $330–$700The control reads the cabinet through them. A sensor that reads wrong makes the unit run too much or too little; a meter separates it from the board.
Typical range $270–$690The board switches the fans, compressor and defrost. It is easy to blame, so the parts around it get measured before it is replaced.
Typical range $390–$1,010A torn or flattened seal lets damp kitchen air in: sweat along the door edge, then frost inside.
Typical range $300–$700The closer pulls the door the last few inches. When it weakens, the door stops short of the seal. Priced at diagnosis.
They clear frost off the evaporator coil on a cycle. When one fails, the coil ices over and the fresh-food side warms first.
Typical range $270–$690Compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier and tubing. Sub-Zero covers these parts for 12 years from installation, labor included for the first 5.
Typical range $1,510–$3,330Ranges are parts and labor, not quotes; your price is agreed after diagnosis and before any work.
A genuine part is listed against your model and serial. A generic one sold to fit many models may fit physically and still behave differently, and when it fails, only its seller stands behind it.
Inside the 12-year sealed-system term, do not buy those parts. Sub-Zero supplies them itself and does not reimburse parts bought anywhere else.
Sub-Zero’s guide reserves interior LED lighting for its own service. The air purification cartridge and the water filter are the owner’s to replace, and the warranty does not cover them.
We order after the diagnosis, by the model and serial on your rating plate, and tell you the expected wait before you approve. If you would rather buy the part yourself, match the part number first: a part bought on a guess is the most expensive way to diagnose.
Because a symptom rarely names its part. A warm fresh-food section can be a fan, a sensor, a defrost fault or the board, and each costs something different. The diagnosis on the visit decides which part it is, and you approve that price before anything is ordered.
Inside a warranty term, through Sub-Zero, which supplies covered parts itself. Otherwise genuine parts are sold by part number, online and through parts distributors. Match the number to the model and serial on your rating plate first, or let us diagnose the unit and order the right one.
